Did Obama say Stimulus Bill was a Milestone or Millstone?

The lead story on our local NBC affiliate, KPRC’s website, quotes President Obama in reference to the passing of the (never read) so called “Stimulus Bill” by both the house and senate a, “major milestone on our road to recovery”. I wasn’t sure if there wasn’t an error in the spelling; you know, “Milestone” inserted where “Millstone” should have been.

Had such a slip of the tongue been made by former President George W. Bush the media would be all abuzz over how ignorant and stupid Bush was for having used the wrong word. I guess when you’re a Democrat and the first Black president you can get a free ride.

I found several scriptural references to Millstone; the one below caused me to wonder if the great city Babylon might be used as a metaphorical comparison to the United States of America. No, I don’t claim to be making prophecy, just my warped sense of “free association” rising to the surface.

“And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.
And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee.”
