Garden Update May 16, 2010

We had a couple of huge rain days this past week, lots of wind, rain and plenty of thunder and lightning. I’ve never seen healthier tomato plants as they are busting out all over. Some of the pole beans are ready to start harvesting, not that there are enough to make a meal yet; just that some of the beans are ready to eat right off the vines. The Climbing Spinach hadn’t done much until the first storm pushed through Friday and then over night they grew several inches; must be they liked the light show. Even the cucumbers in the hanging basket are flowering; never had any luck with them before so we’re trying something new there.

Yuan, Yes, I mind that you want to use my comment section to sell laptop batteries. We call that spam here and it is not welcome.

Beautiful!!! We're anxiously waiting for a few dry days in a row so we can till and plant.

We sort of missed the perfect planting opportunity week before last, but such is life with a railroad man!

Didn't you put up a topsy turvy?

And yeah my wife decided to put in some tomatoes. Like about 15 plants. If they all come in we are going to be up to our ears in maters.
I asked my wife what were you thinking? She said I don't know. I guess she was thinking of tomatoes.

Ron, Yes, we have 3 Topsey Turvey tomato planters, we had 4 but one plant got torn out during a serious wind storm; broke it off at the base. These plants are a test for us to see if they really do work as advertised. Let you know after tomato is sliced and salted.
