Progressive Tolerance

A couple of painful 'email forwards' made their way across the internet this past week, reminders of the Holocaust with pictures and narrative. Viewing the photographs was painful and disturbing and yet necessary. General Eisenhower instructed accompanying journalists to take pictures and record everything because he knew that at some future date there would be those who would deny such an atrocity ever took place.

We are at that point in time my friends. I’m told that schools in the UK have removed reference to the Holocaust from history books and curriculum so as not to disturb the Muslim community who DENY the Holocaust took place.

Greg over at Rhymes With Right has a video and transcription of an exchange between activist/writer David Horowitz and a member of the Muslim Student Association (MSA) while speaking at the University of California – San Diego (UCSD) on May 10, 2010. The student wore an identifiable terrorist scarf during the presentation and the transcript draws a focus on today’s issue.

Under what set of principles, with the most tolerant latitude possible, could any university in America permit or ignore the MSA, an organization sympathetic to terrorist organizations intent of repeating the Holocaust; how could the MSA be permitted to remain on campus, much less remain on US soil?

Horowitz: If you don’t condemn Hamas, obviously you support it. Case closed. I have had this experience at UC Santa Barbara, where there were 50 members of the Muslim Students Association sitting right in the rows there. And throughout my hour talk I kept asking them, will you condemn Hizbollah and Hamas. And none of them would. And then when the question period came, the president of the Muslim Students Association was the first person to ask a question. And I said, ‘Before you start, will you condemn Hizbollah?’ And he said, ‘Well, that question is too complicated for a yes or no answer.’ So I said, ‘Okay, I’ll put it to you this way. I am a Jew. The head of Hizbollah has said that he hopes that we will gather in Israel so he doesn’t have to hunt us down globally. For or Against it?”

MSA member: For it.”

Again I ask the question, “How could the MSA be permitted to remain on campus, much less remain on US soil”? According to Greg’s article, “So far there appears to be nothing but silence from the University of California – San Diego administration.”

The progressives, those who run USCD and other universities where MSA is recognized as an authorized student union, must therefore endorse or at the very least ignore the stated genocidal threat to Israel and Jewish people throughout the world.

I reviewed the MSA “guiding principles” as listed on their homepage. The one which stood out of all those listed, “Tolerance is the banner of our outreach.” I guess tolerance of Jews got deleted when they put their folder together; however, they are true to one of their other platforms, “Patience is the hallmark of our planning.” These folks will not rest until every last Jew has been eradicated from off the face of the planet. This they have promised; let there be no mistaking it, history will be repeated if enough of us who know right from wrong turn away and refuse to step up to the line.
I’ve only included two photographs; there were plenty of reminders of the Holocaust taken in black in white which would make most folks grimace. One shows the barb wired fence line at Auschwitz where, according to our Muslim neighbors, the Holocaust never took place.

The other was taken September 16, 1941 at Vinnitza, Ukraine. The photograph was found in the personal file of a German Einsatzgruppen soldier. It shows the moment prior to the execution of the Last Jew from the city of Vinnitza; hand written on the back of the photo, “This is the last Jew of Vinnitza”. There were, “28,000 Jews from the city and surrounding areas shot that day by the Einsatzkommando, (a sub-group of the five Einsatzgruppen mobile killing squads responsible for systematically killing Jews and Soviet political activists)”.
When you hear progressives tell you we must be tolerant and include all the diversity of cultures, it’s a lie. They only tolerate certain cultures; Jews and Christians are not on the list, MSA is. Let that sink in while you enjoy the rest of your day here in the land of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

I'm British ..... first I've heard of it. Where did you source this information? It would be a massive exercise to rewrite the national curriculum like that .... without anyone noticing or protesting. Yeah right :S

My son's history class have actually just finished learning about the Holocaust. They were spared none of the horror and he was left very moved and very angry that such a thing could have happened.

Cambridge Lady,

There are conflicting results from my search on this subject; however, there is a story from the BBC which tends to validate the claim.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/education/6517359.stm

Thanks for your input and let's hope that the UK continues to teach history as it really happened rather than paint it some other way simply to pacify a segment of the world community.

Thank you for your reply and the link.

The beauty of the national curriculum here in the UK is that teachers have to cover a wide range of topics and can't just pick and choose according to their prejudices (or under pressure...). There are elements of British secondary education that need improvement IMO but humanities teaching tends to be of a high standard and I have been happy to see children of my son's age (13) exposed to aspects of history that are more challenging for them to comprehend - such as the Holocaust.

Cambridge Lady -

I don't think that you have all that much to fear - certainly a lot less than the mongering that TF likes to put out from time to time.

In this instance, he has concentrated on the statements implicating "one or two schools" and completely ignoring the following (from the same article) -

A Department of Education and Skills spokesman said there was scope for schools to make their own decision on what to teach within the national curriculum

But he added: "Teaching of the Holocaust is already compulsory in schools at Key Stage 3 [age 11-14].

"It will remain so in the new Key Stage 3 curriculum from September 2008.

"As Alan Johnson made clear in January there are certain subjects which will be protected in the new curriculum and that includes the Holocaust."

The department and Understanding Slavery have launched a citizenship resource and a national competition, debate and showcase for Key Stage 3 students to explore the legacies of the transatlantic slave trade.

TF terms it "reading between the lines", and believe me he is expert at it.

Take a look too at the timeline on his link - 2 April 2007. Hot new "news" indeed... Or is it a day late?

The modern-day progressive movement in the west never let go of their hatred of Jews. They not only tolerate rampant hatred of Jews among muslims, they also actively work towards paving the way for their muslim allies to finish up what hitler started.

CambridgeLady, assuming you're not one of the rabid progressives in the UK, you should never drop your guard with that crowd. I'd ignore the whining from proby if i were you, note he hasn't mentioned a syllable on the woman TF posted about, the one who's quite happy for the Jews to all gather in one place so it's a lot easier to kill them off.

His moral bankruptcy plumbs ever lower.

Well I felt compelled to leave a comment because I am repeatedly reading blog posts all over the American blogosphere about the UK that are completely untrue. I live here, I have kids in school, I don't recognise a lot of the stuff that is written about my country - it's infuriating!

The UK is "progressive" - I don't attach negative connotations to that word. We are a modern, well-informed, well-travelled people who practice our religions privately and are largely tolerant of incomers and nationals of all creeds and colours. It's a fantastic place to live. I have lived overseas and always come back :o)

To all Americans who believe the UK is a socialistic, depressed hotbed of PC madness and religious intolerance ....... come over and see for yourself! I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how the reality differs from the picture portrayed by some of our tabloid "newspapers" (I use that term very loosely).

TF, if you want to support or promote something that you believe as a truth, you have to have a level of personal credibility.

Promoting half-truth and deliberate misinterpretation (both of which predominate in this particular little item of yours) has the opposite effect. It makes you sound more like a gullible buffoon than a genuinely concerned citizen.

How is about you try and find articles that support your contention directly - like for example the survivalist family from Oklahoma... oh hang on. They were Christians, sorry. Or evidence that the mosque in Houston is being used as a school to train terrorists. Or actual Court cases where people have been brought to justice for taking action against the State. There must be hundreds of them if things are as bad as you paint.

Otherwise, you might spend your time more profitably talking to your pet galah. He seems to share your personal paranoias.

Probligo, Your level of credibility has long since evaporated. When you stop by to leave a comment invariably you attempt to change the subject as you are doing here. If you have issues with some other folks who stop by then take them somewhere else. I've grown tired of it.

"I’m told that schools in the UK have removed reference to the Holocaust from history books and curriculum so as not to disturb the Muslim community who DENY the Holocaust took place. "

... is what you said. Live with it.

As for the MSA, you might be right. But I have my doubts.

Recent history shows that there is equal if not greater danger from religious fundamentalists of a totally different colour. I'm wrong? Think anthrax bombers, Oklahoma survivalists, disaffected farmers with more ammonia fertilizer than is good for their health, disaffected idiots who shoot people through a hole in the trunk of their car (as a training exercise), disaffected schoolkids with their dad's guns... the list can go on. Judge that list against the single atrocity of al Qaeda.

Does not make any of them right.

It does show that something really stinks in your society.

And it sure ain't Liberals, Obama, Democrats, or Repubs, or Muslims, or Jews....

You are welcome to your paranoia.

Great, have your doubts; but do so elsewhere. You have worn out your welcome.

I wonder if anyone has noticed that the marketed phraseology has changed from the days of FDR. Back then progress was used to promote dams, roads, and other major public works projects.
Todays progressives have migrated to mean the social poop they they scatter about like so much radioacive manure.
Sorry TF. I am trying to use less; apparently hereditary, sailor launguage.

Ron, In actuality the Communist Party here in the US goes way back but they didn't want to be called communist or socialist, even back then, so they referred to themselves as the Progressive Party even then.

You could say that the term has come full circle. Anyway you slice it it comes back as being a cheap imitation incapable of standing even with our divinely inspired Republican form of government. For the life of me I cannot figure why anyone who understands the blessings which are afforded each and every individual under our system, a system protected by the constitution, why they would opt for anything less. They are being fooled by the lie which is at the heart of socialism, that you can get something for nothing or that having the government steal from the rich is okay because the rich stole it to begin with; all lies when you get down to it.

An old pastor of mine; a Reverand Keller, who has passed away used to preach a sermon about how to boil a live frog.

Frogs because of the type of nervous system they have can not be boiled if you throw them in a fry pan of boiling water, they would just jump out. However if you put them first in a pan of room temperatur water and then turn the heat up slowly they will just sit there until it is too late. I see that same mentality in the incrementalism of socialism.

Fortunately we the people are not frogs, and because of our Constitution it is not too late.

It may be too late to stop a major backlash, but then we may have earned that.
