It never happened

I got a kick out of a comment left on one of my cop story blogs explaining that it would be fun to tell some stories related to some of his cop friends; but, he’d have to wait until they retired or died. The statute of limitations and/or the loss of a retirement pension made me wonder…hum…

I had a friend who used to fly those little corporate jets out on the west coast. The company he worked for had offices up and down the coast; San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego. His job was to be available to fly executive types back and forth. On one such trip they were to ferry several officers along with a secretary down to a meeting in San Diego. Upon arriving it was determined that the secretary would not be needed and since the jet was scheduled to go back to Los Angeles where her parents lived she could simply remain aboard and enjoy a weekend trip on the company. That would have been fine except nobody informed the pilots about the passenger on the final leg.

These pilots had been baby sitting corporate execs for so long that they were ready to have some fun and “blow out some cob webs”. These guys had a sports car mentality in a jet that was made for having fun as they put it through some barrel rolls. From the back of the airplane they heard a woman screaming; the secretary who had not been needed. A little quick thinking as he opened the cabin door, “Sorry, we ran into some turbulence back there; glad you’re okay.”, without missing a beat.

All of these guys have retired now; even so, the names shall remain a secret just in case that secretary is still hopping flights with the company. I wish I could have seen the look on that pilots face half a moment before he came up with that line about the turbulence; that would have been worth the price of admission. If you were to ask anyone connected; it never happened.
